Enhancing environments
Creating welcoming spaces in our hospitals with beautiful, bespoke artworks for the benefit of our patients, staff and visitors.
Arts in Health continues to make Sheffield Teaching Hospitals a more welcoming place through the installation of carefully-selected, art-based improvements across our five sites.
We strive to create a calming and relaxed atmosphere through the use of strategically-positioned, inspirational artwork with the aim of promoting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and visitors. We believe displaying stimulating and uplifting artwork in both the public and clinical areas of our hospitals can offer a wealth of benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, and creating more welcoming spaces.
So whether you are looking for some photographs to brighten a waiting room or would like to commission an artist for a special project, we’re here to help. Our Arts Coordinator can offer advice and guidance on funding options (you may already have funding in place or need to apply for funds from Sheffield Hospitals Charity, for example), commissioning, procurement, and installation, as well as ensuring all projects meet infection control and fire safety guidelines.

NB: Interior refurbishments are generally dealt with by the Estates Team, however we may be able to offer interior design guidance for small projects not managed by Estates.
The Arts in Health team relies on the goodwill of our dedicated team of volunteers. We also regularly work with professional artists and musicians on a variety of creative projects across the Trust.
