In & Out of Hospital

We are proud to present our book 'In & Out of Hospital', covering 6 years of creative intervention projects with in- and outpatients at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Starting in May 2017, we developed and delivered a tailored programme of activities co-designed with artists and hospital specialists that were accessible and responded to the needs and abilities of different patients groups.

Over the years we have worked with visual artists, composers, musicians, choreographers, writers, singers and many of our ward activity volunteers to engage people with longer-term or chronic medical conditions in creative projects to support wellbeing, teach new skills, improve mood and confidence.

All projects were carefully and sensitively designed to respond to patients' needs and abilities, in collaboration with hospital specialists and departmental staff teams.

The programme was generously funded by Sheffield Hospitals Charity and Arts Council England and supported by our partner organisations: University of Sheffield Department for Music, Sheffield Museums and Yorkshire Artspace.
